So, a little while ago, I had this bold vision:
I was going to step fully into my role as a Life Enhancer & Fear Strategist… I knew it. I felt it. I could see it.
And then… I promptly decided I needed an entire year to “get ready.” I told myself, “2025 will be my preparation year. I’ll launch in 2026. Properly. Like a professional. With matching folders and everything.” Because obviously, launching a business required:
• Re-reading every single coaching book I own (which is basically a second library).
• Reviewing 15 years of handwritten coaching notes (some of which I can no longer read, thanks to my ‘creative’ cursive).
• Re-doing every course I’d ever done (just in case I missed something in 2009).
• And of course, saving up for the perfect moment to invest in myself… whenever that magical financial alignment would occur.
I wasn’t scared, not really. I was just… a little overcommitted to being overprepared. And it sounded so reasonable. I mean, who wants to go out there half-baked?
But one day, somewhere between highlighting yet another paragraph I’d already highlighted in 2014, I had a moment:
“Wait. Why am I still acting like a student when I’ve already lived the curriculum?”
Boom. Lightbulb. Reality check. Facepalm.
That was the turning point. I decided to stop preparing for the starting line and actually start!
I signed up for Tony Robbins’ Unleash the Power Within (aka, four days of bouncing around like a caffeinated gazelle), and Laurie Mabelis’s Transformational Speaking Blueprint, which terrified me just enough to know it was exactly what I needed…
Those decisions weren’t about learning more – they were about stepping into who I already was. I went from “Let me just re-learn everything ever created” to “Let’s go. I’ll learn what I need on the way.”
You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to be brave enough to take the first step – messy bun, wobbly voice, half-written plan and all.
Because the truth is, you don’t become the person who can do the thing… by waiting. You become her by doing it anyway.
So start before you feel ready. Because chances are – you’re more ready than you’ve ever let yourself believe. And besides… perfection is overrated. But momentum? That changes everything.
