Here’s something I often remind my clients of:

We have way more control over our emotional state than we think.

We can shift it – on a dime – if we choose to…  No waiting for the moon to be in Virgo or your mother-in-law to apologise.

Case in point? Vinny Jones in the film ‘Snatch’.

He’s mid-scene, absolutely pummelling someone (as only Vinny can), and then – ring ring – the phone goes. And just like that, he answers with a calm, chirpy: “Bonjour.” It’s comical. But it’s also powerful.

That, right there, is a pattern interrupt. He goes from rage to polite charm in a literal second. Why? Because the phone rang and he decided to switch gears. No drama, just done.

Now, I’m obviously not suggesting violence is the gateway to emotional clarity (let’s just park that disclaimer here!) but I am suggesting that you, too, can flip the switch.

Whether it’s fear, overwhelm, or that creeping imposter syndrome – ask yourself:

“What if I could interrupt this pattern of focus, thought and physiology right now?”

“What would my version of ‘Bonjour’ be?”

Change the channel. Reclaim your power.

It’s not always easy, but it is always possible.
